Behind the man & songs
Haami is a bi-lingual singer songwriter with strong roots in kapa haka, country folk, rock and popular ballad. He has worked alongside Te Kākano, the Matatini All Stars and the Tuari Brothers. Haami loves infusing rich layers of harmony in his songs which as he puts it, is about “sharing the love and the feels”.
Haami is releasing a new single called “Taku Kāenga” on 30 July 2024. The new single and accompanying lyric video sponsored by Te Mangai Paho celebrates his past, present and future. “Taku Kāenga” is a song about longing for home. One that acknowledges his cultural roots from Te Tairāwhiti and one that reminds him of the rich heritage and multiple talents he can call on to forge new pathways in his present day hometown Waihopai, Te Waipounamu.
